The Warriors and The City Wall

On May 12, we were on our way to visit the Terra-Cotta Warriors. There were many people here and it was very hot, but we managed to travel around the entire historical site. They were a few different buildings within this historical site. The first building focused the most on history and only had a few Terra-Cotta Warriors. The Terra-Cotta Warriors looked very big and tall, showing the strength of this ancient army. It also included some other sculptures that were made in the past, such as horses, horse riders, other men, and other animals. This part was the most relaxing because it had the least amount of people inside. The next building had a few more Terra-Cotta warriors and an excavation site that they are continuing to work on. They are not finished recovering the remains of the clay sculptures, but they are working slowly and carefully. We later saw a larger excavation site, but here we could see the warriors clearly. They were assembled in a way were they looked ready to fight. Their hands looked like they were carrying a tool or weapon, but it was removed. There were also horses leading the way in front of the soldiers. Many soldiers also did not have a head.

As we continues, we would see bigger and bigger groups of warriors standing together and looking very strong. This really showed the strength of the ancient army. It was unbelievable seeing the massive number of warriors standing in front of us. It was stunning and I personally want to learn more about the Terra-Cotta Warriors and China`s ancient history. Although I keep saying this in my blogs, it was an unforgettable experience. Everything we have witnessed up to this point have been extremely stunning and I am very glad to have experienced it.

After the Terra-Cotta Warriors, we went on to have an amazing lunch. This lunch was buffet style, but also included noodle soup and Chinese style hamburgers. Both of these foods have come to be some of my top favorite foods in China. It was a really enjoyable experience. After eating, we went outside and noticed the dense and thick dust in the air due to a dust storm in a different area. We needed to wear face masks due to the extreme dust conditions.

We then traveled to the city wall. We rented bikes to ride around the wall. Almost all of the students went ahead and biked all the way around the wall, but I was unable to bike the entire way due to my chronic pain in my hips. I still enjoyed leisurely biking a little over a quarter of the wall and biking back. Before I turned back, me and a few other people stopped to have ice cream and relax. I was also able to notice the new and the old parts of the wall. The outer part of the wall was much higher and had some red flags, and the inner part of the wall was older and much shorter. It was very interesting to me to be able to see new and old side by side.

Today was a very wonderful day, and I keep getting more and more surprised with what China has to offer!
