Introducing Quincy!

Hi! My name is Quincy Jackson and I am from a little bit of everywhere. I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon, but since the age of seven I have moved quite a bit. I lived in Arlington, Virginia for five years and I graduated abroad in Dakar, Senegal last year and my family is in the midst of moving to Virginia Beach. I am currently a freshman here at the University of Pittsburgh, majoring in Nursing and pursuing a minor in French. This summer I will hopefully find a summer job on the oceanfront and find the time to be able to volunteer at the local volunteer rescue squad. After graduation, I would like to work in a hospital for a few years, at the moment I do not know which field I want to specialize in or focus on in nursing.

This summer in May I will be traveling to the UK with Pitt’s Plus 3 program. I have chosen this program because there are not that many opportunities for nursing students to study abroad but also, I want to be able to expand my knowledge of healthcare outside of the United States. Additionally, I spent a portion of my K-12 education studying abroad so I know the great opportunity and benefits that studying abroad is. Through this program I hope to gain a greater understanding of the UK’s national health service and how it compares to the US health care system. Personally, I also am looking forward to exploring the UK and learning about English culture.
