Hi! My name is Bailey Wallace and I am from Syracuse, New York. I am finishing up my Sophomore year here at the Pitt Business school. I am majoring in Marketing & Finance with two certificates in International Business & Digital Media. Currently, I have a remote internship for a company called Small Boutique Fashion Week where I help find people to be a part of each fashion show around the country including designers, influencers, and models. As of right now, I have worked on our fashion shows in Columbus, Ohio and Denver, Colorado. In my free time, I also work for a freelance graphic designer and help her run her social media accounts. In the future, I would like to keep working within the fashion industry, as that is something I’m very passionate about.
I chose Plus3 Ireland, because I believed it could be immensely beneficial in my future educational and professional career. As I pursue my certificate in International Business, I believe this experience will pair very well with it. Fall semester, I took a class called International Dimensions of Organizational Behavior classes, and it was one of my favorite classes so far. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about all of the concepts we touched on in class and how culture is so vital to know how to make decisions within a business and how to work well with diversity in the work place. Not only do I want to relate this to my newly cultivated knowledge from class, but also be able to expand on it and learn so much more through real-life experiences. I also have never been to Ireland and would love to check it off my bucket list of places to travel to!
One of the things I personally hope to accomplish while on this trip is to become more educated with the world around me. There is so much we don’t know and can learn from new/other cultures. Moreover, I want to become a more independent person and work on what it means to be responsible for myself in new and challenging situations. With that being said, professionally, I want to have experience to back up my international business knowledge. This will allow me to work with the knowledge I’ve gained from what I learned what I’ve learned on this trip and not just in a classroom. Academically, I would love to work with my fellow classmates and get to know them and their strengths and weakness. We as a team can help make each other stronger and provide new perspectives and solutions to potential problems.
