I am Evan Bourke, a current student at the University of Pittsburgh pursuing a dual major in physics and mechanical engineering. I love baking, fashion, and generally being creative, something that has led me to the creative problem solving in my majors. I chose to do the Plus 3 program because it gives me an opportunity to complete more items within my major, while also providing a unique international experience that pushes me out of my comfort zone. Since the Cyprus 2 program initially was the Netherlands program, I chose this program because of the artful engineering that permeates a lot of the Dutch culture, as the lands the Netherlands have built upon are actively being claimed from the ocean. However, the switch to Cyprus has not at all deterred me from the trip. In fact, I have always been fascinated with how a global market forms and maintains itself, satisfying the vast array of various needs that each individual has across the globe. Overall, I hope to gain further appreciation for Cyprus’ unique economic and geopolitical position, both personally and academically, all while enjoying its beautiful sights and environment.
