Hi everyone, I’m Desire Baldonado! I was born in New Jersey but moved to Miami, Florida at 11 years old and my family is originally from Panama. I have an older sister and two siblings a lot younger than me. My hobbies include reading, shopping, traveling, although I haven’t been to too many places, playing my daily wordle, and binging on too many movies and television shows to count. I am currently a freshman nursing student at the Greensburg campus and am involved in the Student Nurses Association and Black Student Union. I plan to graduate with my bachelors in nursing and pursue a career as a travel nurse hopefully focusing on labor and delivery or maybe a perinatal unit, just something definitely with babies! 

I chose Plus3 UK because traveling to the UK has been an interest of mine for a while and I find everything about the country intriguing, the fashion, accent, tv shows, and customs. However, besides my UK obsession, I also chose this program because I want to gain a deeper understanding of how exactly healthcare and education systems are run. I also really like that this program has a specific emphasis on diversity since I know that both the healthcare and education systems are riddled with racial and economic disparities. Finally, I would like to broaden my knowledge of how diversity fits into these systems as a whole, increase my cultural awareness, and enrich my passion for nursing.
