Day 1 (May 7th/8th): Döner Kebab

To say our flight to Germany was complicated is an understatement. If I would’ve told myself I was going to be in four different airports, three different states, and two countries in the last 24 hours, I would have laughed at myself. Even with set backs in getting to Germany, I still was able to have a great time getting to know everyone better. We found ways to still have fun by playing games like Among Us while waiting in JFK to board our flight after it kept getting pushed back. However, the worst part was attempting to sleep on the flight, it was impossible to say the least. Like almost everyone on the bus, to make up for the lack of sleep, I decided to just sleep on the ride to Augsburg.

Once we arrived at IBIS hotel, we all mutually agreed to get food. However, since it is Sunday, a lot of places closed early so we had limited options. That is when Nate saved Jerry, Oday, Ben and I by telling us about Alibaba Döner. It was similar to a Gyro but nothing I have ever had before. Dare I say though, it was delicious. Most likely will get it again later in the trip, so stay tuned for Döner Kebab Part 2.

After settling in at the hotel, we took a tour of Fuggerei and other parts of Augsburg. I was shocked to hear people would live in these houses for only .88 euros per year. I also did not know that Augsburg’s weather was so similar to the weather back home, but it felt almost identical. Overall, I had a fantastic day even though the flights started off rough. It was a perfect way to end the first day by eating at Zeughaus Stuben.

Looking forward to documenting the rest of the trip. This is just the start!

Danke!
