Captain’s Log: Prologue
(Please note published date is NOT the same as the date of the blog, these first few may be slightly delayed just till I get adjusted to this)
(Also chose this title because it’s a reference to an old game, only original gamers will know though)
Every story has a beginning, and this right here is the beginning. The pre-beginning to the beginning of something exceptional, and thrilling.
My study abroad trip to Germany!!
🎺🎺🎺 🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪 📯📯📯
(Imagine a fanfare sound right here)
(Like that? I hired a personal band to emphasize the great moments 😆)
Anyways! Today started like no other! In the dorms of Pitt’s Nordenberg hall (Interesting experience, typically I’m a commuter, so this is like the second time I’ve experienced dorm life)
The main point of today was to get set up and ready for Germany. So after checking out of Nordenberg, me and my hearty crew (I’m the captain in this story 🏴☠️) headed out to Pittsburgh International Airport to catch a connection flight into Charlotte, North Carolina. A massive airport hub!
(Have I mentioned how much I love planes? Because if I didn’t, know that I am crazy about them! ✈️)
I’ll be back after two hours!
(I’m writing this as if it were updating every time I write, so you can see how I felt step by step along the way so it kind of immerses you in the action)

I realized later I looked very mysterious and strict in this shot 😭
Charlotte seemed even bigger than JFK in New York, but we only stayed for about one and a half hours until boarding a Boeing 777 (Big Plane) Heading straight to Munich, after 8 solid hours of flight.
Today’s blog wasn’t as eventful as I anticipated, but this is the buildup for what I consider will be one of the greatest stories I’ll ever live through!
I’ll see you tomorrow, for the official beginning of my journey!
For now though,
Gute Nacht and Auf Wiedersehen!!
(30 or so minutes later [Yes, that ^ was a premature ending to this blog, because there was more. Oho, there was way more, read on])
You know what’s funny? Surprises 😭.
So, funny thing first of all,
The monitors in our plane, we’re dysfunctional for some reason, which was unfortunate because there is a lot of entertainment available in those monitors 🙁 .
Then, it got worse because the plane to Germany had to make an ‘unexpected’ landing in New York. Something to do with a weather radar malfunctioning and there needing to be an unexpected landing for safety purposes.
So, after barely passing the East Coast of the United States, we circled around and landed in JFK airport (ironic that I actually wrote about JFK earlier) waiting about an hour on the plane for the captain to let us know if the plane was fixed so we could retake off, but alas, we were deplaned and had to move from Gate 34 to Gate 3 ;(
The flight initially meant to take off from North Caroline at 4:30 was now set to take off in JFK at 8:30 and arrive in Munich at 10:00 AM. If you ask me, it definitely could’ve been worse, but then it actually did get worse 😭
We arrived at Gate 3 and the fire alarm went off! A lot of us had been tiredish, but this alarm just woke everyone up and induced headaches in all. And then the funniest yet saddest thing happened!
The radio in the airport started playing Bad Day 😂. Me and my crew started humming and tearing up (not really) and we just waited for the plane to board, so we can finally leave the United States.
But every time we waited, the plane kept getting delayed, and delayed, and delayed. Very optimal experience for my first study abroad. Then suddenly, everyone was quiet and bored, and I randomly thought of playing Among Us as a joke, but it actually happened! And we had a blast, laughing and staying awake as we awaited the plane.
And at last we got on an identical plane, and from JFK, we’re finally heading to Munich, Germany! (Wooooo)
Gute Nacht! (For real this time!)

You have been through a lot!! What an eventful start 😅
