Expected the unexpected

Hola! We have officially been in Costa Rica for 24 hours. It has been exciting to get to explore city of Heredia. The last time I travelled abroad I visited Spain. When coming to Costa Rica, I expected it to more and less be the same as Spain. Seeing as they both countries with hispanic roots, and given the spaniards try to take over Costa Rica (and obviously not succeed).

However, Costa Rica has turned out to be a very different environment of Spain. Costa Rica is much more tropical and has everything from its fruit to the manana attitudes inbedded in such. The people of Costa Rica exude a welcomeness that is unlike any I have seen on my travels. They are much more gracious of blunders by bumbling tourists.

As I travelled to the central market, I was graced with the kindness of Tikos. The owner of a fruit stand stood patiently as I tried to explain to him what I wanted. (some sliced pineapple of course). He helped me figure out how many colonies to give me and even when I blundered and dropped my piece of pineapple, he was kind enough to give me another. You certainly don’t see that kindness often in America.

Overall, my first hours in Costa Rica have been amazing. I can’t wait to learn more about this beautiful country and their amazing people!
