Tag 1: Two days merged into one

The past 48 hours were definitely an adventure. Saturday was the day dedicated to traveling and after landing in Charlotte I was prepared for a long flight to Munich. However, only about 2 hours into our flight, the pilot announced we had to land at the JFK airport because the radar on the plane was not working. We landed safely and had to get off the plane to wait for another. While waiting, we did some yoga and made a friend from Mozambique! Finally, about three hours later, we were able to take off and travel to Munich.

Once we landed, our day started, and was busy. I got my first meal at… McDonald’s. It was Sunday so very few places were open and even though it was basic, they had many options that were not available in America, like waffle fries and donuts! After a quick introduction, we started to walk through Augsburg. The city is beautiful and the buildings are so colorful! There were a lot of narrow roads that go in between buildings opening into different areas and it was cool to walk through. We then walked to tour the Fuggerai, which is one of the oldest social housing complexes. Did you know the rent there is only 3 prayers a day and 0.88 euros a year?

Finally, we went to dinner and got to meet the Augsburg students! I ordered Spezei with my meal which is a soda that is like Cola and Fanta mixed and it was really good! The food was also great and we got to have extremely interesting conversations with the other students. It was really interesting to talk about the similarities and differences between our countries.
