Starting at 7am with breakfast, today was filled with lots of information and traveling. We departed the hotel at 8am and headed to Limassol. Medochemie- the first company visit of the trip- is headquartered in Limassol. The bus ride was very beautiful. We drove past mountains and rolling hills and along the coast. During the visit, we were lectured on Medochemie’s supply chain and overall business practices. We learned a lot about their quality assurance regarding their products too. My main takeaway from the Medochemie visit was that there is a lot more that goes into producing pharmaceutical drugs than I had realized. Since they are a global company, a lot of their marketing and packaging has to be made with several languages which I did not think about prior. I also found their warehouse fascinating. The organization and way the walls moved to permit access to different storage was cool.
We drove back from Limassol and arrived at the University of Nicosia for our second company visit. We did have some free time in between for lunch so I bought some fruit and enjoyed it outdoors with some friends. The campus is so pretty!
Our second company visit was with Wargaming. Wargaming is a video game developing company with several online games. I personally don’t play many video games but it was cool to learn about what goes into developing a video game. We were informed about the different steps that happen in between having an idea and producing a product. The thing I found the most interesting from Wargaming is that they said they tend to only market to current players and don’t do much marketing outside of that. I would’ve thought they would market so that new players would see their games.
Overall today was tiring but informative! I look forward to the company visits we have in the future and am excited for tomorrow’s activities.
