This morning, we ventured to Limassol to visit a company named Medochemie. This is a pharmaceutical company based in Cyprus that also has offices in the Netherlands and Vietnam. At the company, we had a presentation on what Medochemie does, their supply chain rundown, and how they make their products so accessible to many countries around the world. During this presentation, we learned that their supply chain is first strategic, tactical, and then operational. In order to have the highest quality products, Medochemie takes quality control at their manufacturers very seriously. This company follows the health and safety guidelines made by the GMP or the “Good Manufacturing Process” in Cyprus. The GMP in Cyprus is the equivalent of the FDA in America. Also, because of the company’s location, there are many things it has to do differently than the companies in America. For example, because Medochemie sells products in many countries all over Europe, and it’s an island, it ships its products to Greece and then transports the products from Greece to the other counties in Europe. Many American companies do not need to do this because they only sell their products in America.
Later in the day, we then visited the company Wargaming. This company creates free multiplayer war videogames. The way this company makes videogames is they first come up with an idea for one. Then, whether there is the capacity for this game to be made by the company is contemplated. After, the more in-depth details of the game are thought out. Finally, a model is made of the game and then test, and the model of the game continually gets renovated and tested over and over again until the company believes they have made the best version of the game they could. Because everything this company does is online, they are already sustainable, and they do not have a physical supply chain. Also, the way this company runs and works is very similar to how the companies in America (especially the videogame companies) run.
