Day Three is History

Day three is officially history now. The bus naps today were divine. As Matt said, “Heads were knocked.”

Anyway, DP world was great. I really loved the presentations and all of the insights we got about the port industry. The assistant manager was so knowledgeable and answered our questions extremely well. I grew to appreciate the complexity of the port industry and all of the political and economical influences and hardships. I really appreciated him giving us advice about our future. He seemed invested in us in a way that the other company representatives in the last few days haven’t been.

Seeing the port and the live operations was really insightful. I decided that if we woke up as port-related things that I would be a straddle carrier, Carina would be a cruise ship, Elena would be a gantry crane, and Natasha would be a shipping container. Don’t ask me to explain; it just makes sense.

We then got to visit the Old Port of Limassol which was really beautiful. The water was ridiculously blue and surprisingly cold. I loved walking out on the pier and just staring at the sea. It made me so excited for our time at the beach later this week.

The dogs out in the water. My socks also blew into the sea.

Next, we visited a castle where Richard the Lionheart got married. The castle was filled with so many tombstones which was interesting but also sad. There was a tombstone for a pregnant woman with a carving of a woman and a baby that was really upsetting. The view from the top of the castle was wonderful. On one side you had the sea, and on the other there was the mountains.

Afterwards, we walked around the shops in the village and I got delicious juice!

For dinner we went to To Anamma, which I would highly recommend, and it was so good. We sat there and talked for 3 hours like true Cypriots and it was a wonderful meal.
