En Route to Monte Verde

Today, we left our first place in Heredia and made our way (via three-hour bus ride) to the beautiful mountaintop region of Monte Verde. Something interesting that I happened to notice as we made our way to the mountainous region is the differences apparent between Costa Rica. In particular, it was rather interesting how different the architecture was (probably to compensate for different environments factors) as well as the different motor vehicles that they have here as compared to the ones we have back home.

As for how the quakers impacted the economy and culture of Costa Rica when they immigrated, the impact that they had was very similar to what happens when immigrants move in to any country. An increase in workers, more products (and potentially new products), and an introduction of their native (American) culture to that of Costa Rican natives.
