After one week in Cyprus, we finally got to spend the day at the beach in Paphos. To take advantage of this day, my friend Stella and I woke up early to watch the sunrise on the beach. We thought it might end up raining and we wouldn’t be able to go but luckily it did not, and we were able to go. While we could not actually see the sun from where we were at, we did see a bunch of pretty clouds which made it worth it. It was nice sitting on the beach with no one there. It was very peaceful, and the early morning wind felt nice. Next, we walked back to the hotel and got breakfast. Since it was still too early to go back to the beach, we then went into the hotel pool for about an hour. It’s crazy how much sunlight there is in Cyprus so early in the morning. Finally, at 9:30, we walked back over to the beach, rented some chairs and an umbrella, and spent the rest of the day on the beach. The sun was very bright and there were barely any clouds in the sky. We got to lay out and tan on the beach which was fun. I used sunscreen today, but I think the sun beat me. I did end up getting a minimal amount of sunburn but nothing too bad. The sand on the beach was very hot so we tried going into the Mediterranean Sea, but the water was so cold it was hard to stay in the water for more than ten minutes. So, it was kind of hard to try and cool off besides just sitting in the shade. All in all, today was a great day. It was very nice being able to have a relaxing day off.
