This is a love letter to the city of Munich: I am so deeply in love with you. Today was filled with beautiful buildings and the most stunning vibrant strawberries I have seen in my entire life. I was completely mesmerized as we walked around the city during our tour and every corner was filled with history. I have always been a city girl, but European cities have elevated this part of my persona and secured a special space in my heart. Although we were averaging six or more miles a day each day of our trip, walking more than six miles is no issue when I get to do it in Munich and alongside my friends (both German & American)
It was also our first time riding the German train that morning, which is overall much nicer and in some sense romantic (there was a station named kissing which I thought was adorable). The German transportation system is something that I didn’t expect to fall completely in love with, the landscape itself was a movie that I was lucky enough to watch the entire trajectory through the windows. If I could make riding German transportation a personal hobby, I totally would. We started the tour at the Marienplatz, which is the city square, home of both the Old and New Town Halls. The Marienplatz can be classified as the heart of Munich and the entire picturesque setting really emerges you into the story and makes you feel like a local. One fun fact is that we lost Dr. Feick during our adventure, truth be told, you can’t blame him for getting distracted thanks to all the mesmerizing buildings, produce shops, numerous fountains, and various coffee shops
All I can say is that I can promise Munich that I will be back. We were all truly exhausted after such a long day and ended up napping as soon as we arrived at our hotel rooms. We had family-style dinner back at Munich so we were all set to sleep in order to prepare for the next day’s adventure.
