Woke up and decided to visit Austria

Long story short, we had a whole day to ourselves and we simply could not let it go to waste, so what did we do? visit a whole new country (which is not a big deal in Europe, but we were stoked to see a new country for just a day). We woke up and took the train to Austria. I really can’t believe we all got organized and collectively decided to make this happen, teamwork makes the dream work.

I have no words for Austria, we all simply fell in love with it. We walked around numerous gardens while the sun shone on our skin and gave us a tan. We headed towards the Hohensalzburg Fortress, adding a stop to see Mozart’s house, painted a distinctive bright yellow, and other cultural spots. The real star of the entire trip was the Hohensalzburg Fortress. It provides the most beautiful view of the city of Salzburg, including the river, pastel houses, green fields, statues, and fountains, indeed everything. We explored the fortress for around two hours, the view really does take your breath away and makes time simply fly by. It sort of reminded me of Greece, due to the tall white buildings, and the overall tan color palette of the place.

All good things must come to an end, and it was time for us to depart the fortress in order to make it on time for our train. We stopped for a quick dinner, as we were all exhausted thanks to all the walking and sightseeing. We managed to find our train and head back to Munich, to then find our other train to arrive at Augsburg. Who would have thought a bunch of 19-year-olds are capable of successfully organizing a trip to another country in a matter of hours? Regardless to say, we were proud of ourselves and considered this a once-in-a-lifetime experience, the kind I’ll tell my kids to show them how cool their mom was at college.
