May 19th- Final Full Day

Here we are, our last full day on the trip. I am trying not to think about it too much because I don’t want it to be over. But, today we are spending our free time in Salzburg. We started off the morning taking our covid tests to ensure we were able to go home the next day. I was very nervous about this part but I ended up testing negative so I was in the clear. Afterward, Liam and I grabbed a quick breakfast at McDonalds and brought it back to the hotel. Once we all finished eating we walked over to the train station. Here we had to figure out the train situation on our own, I was nervous about that at first but it worked out in the end. We had a quick stop in Munich and then it was off to Salzburg.

When we first got to Salzburg we went straight to an Austrian restaurant for lunch. After lunch we went to the Mirabelplatz which had lots of beautiful gardens and fountains, it also had a good view of the fortress. We spent a lot of time checking out the Mirabelplatz taking pictures and what not, then we walked towards the fortress getting souvenirs on the way.

We grabbed some Gelato and then walked over a beautiful bridge that was on the way to the fortress. On the way we also passed by the house Mozart used to live in which was very cool.

After a lot of walking we finally made it to the fortress. I was not expecting it to be as big as it was but it was huge. It felt like a whole village up there. My favorite part of the entire fortress had to be the view. You could see almost all of Salzburg and the Alps in the back. Truly a once in a lifetime experience.

We didn’t quite have time for dinner as we had to catch the next train back to Augsburg. It was more of a depressing ride back as I knew I had a lot of packing I needed to do for the flight the next day. Once we finally arrived back at the hotel in Augsburg we decided to end the night where we started the trip. We got Döner Kebap one last time. This one had to be the best one so far, maybe that was because I knew it was the last one or who knows.

There we go, last full day in the books. Only the flights home tomorrow, but I will have one last blog reflecting on everything. Thank you!
