Dub Time

Hello! My name is Ely Elliott, and I am senior here at the University of Pittsburgh. I am from Butler Pennsylvania and attended Butler County Community College before coming to Pitt. I grew up on a farm, that’s now a Christmas tree farm. I come from a blue-collar background of Welding and Masonry before attending college. As I have worked hard to get here, any opportunity to advance my knowledge and skill sets I love to take advantage of, especially when traveling is involved!

Here at Pitt, I am a Finance Major with an Economics Minor. Since my first semester at Pitt, I have been interested in a study abroad program. It just turns out that the Dublin, Ireland Plus3 Program is the right one for me! During my time here at Pitt, I have spent my free time focusing on my future. On campus I have been a Junior Analyst for the Panther Equity Investment Fund for the past 4 semesters, gaining a wealth of knowledge in quantitative and qualitative aspects for bottom-up company research. Off campus I have worked a diverse set of jobs as I mentioned.

On the professional side of my work experience, I worked with Trek Coalition in the summer of 2021 as a Marketing and Operations Intern. In the summer of 2022, I worked with UPMC in Finance as a Summer Associate. This upcoming summer I will be working with PNC Bank as a Retail Banking Intern in Organizational Financial Wellness right after returning from this trip to Dublin, Ireland.

As I mentioned, the program I have chosen is the Plus3 Dublin, Ireland Program, and there’s a good reason for it! With Irelands corporate tax rate being 12.5%, Ireland has become a hub for Tech, Pharmaceutical, and many other sectors for businesses around the globe. Taking a trip to Ireland in the Plus3 program means that I will be immersed in this business environment and culture. I believe this will help me tremendously in understanding multinational enterprises.

Going forward in my career I plan to work in Finance, Banking or Consulting. This trip will help to set me apart from my peers in the job search market. I plan to learn as much as I can about these impressive companies, immerse myself in a foreign culture, and enable myself to offer something special to companies that I apply to.
