Hello everyone! My name is Ethan Roncace and I am wrapping up my first year in the Swanson School of Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. My intended major is mechanical engineering and I plan on obtaining a sustainability certificate in the future. Outside of academics, I love to be outside with my friends. Golfing is one of my favorite activities, as well as singing, listening to music, going to the gym, watching sports, or playing games with my friends. I am involved with the Musical Theatre Club at Pitt and my favorite artist is Tyler, The Creator. Engineering always interested me due to my passion for problem solving, and my curiosity of how different devices work.

I will be traveling to Amsterdam in May to participate in Pitt’s Plus3 Netherlands program, where I will learn about how products go from concept to customer. I will also learn about the supply chain process and am excited to see more about the business side of how ideas become real products. I believe that anyone has the ability to create a great idea, but it takes skill to turn that idea into something real. I hope this experience teaches me about the ins and outs of the manufacturing process and how companies handle their operations to maximize their production.

Plus3 Netherlands will hopefully give me a feel for what teamwork within businesses looks like, and I am excited to take this knowledge and apply it to my future career. I look forward to a global experience and can’t wait to take in the Netherlands culture. I am always open to trying new things, so I will be ready to participate in anything that Amsterdam throws my way!
