Hey guys! My name is Lauren McCay and I am currently a freshman Pitt Business student on track to major in marketing with a certificate in Leadership and Ethics. Eventually, I hope to work in a big city with a large media company. I am involved in a couple of clubs here such as AMA (American Marketing Association) and Studio Fouronetwo, which is a social magazine for Pitt. I am also in Sigma Delta Tau, which is a sorority here.
I am from a town right outside of Rochester NY called Victor. In my free time I love to go on walks, hang out with friends and I am always down to try new things, especially food. I love going for long drives around the lake and am always listening to music. My favorite artists/bands are Fleetwood Mac, Harry Styles, Drake and Remi Wolf. This summer I have so many things planned including a lot of concerts. So far I am seeing Harry Styles (I am actually seeing him while in Germany!), Drake, Luke Bryan, Declan McKenna, and a lot of other country artists! I am very excited and already have all my outfits picked out.
I have always loved traveling and that’s why when I heard about Plus 3 I knew I had to apply! Because of my dad’s job I have moved all around the country, I have almost been to every state, the only two I haven’t been to is Alaska and North Dakota. Before moving to NY my family was almost stationed on a base in Germany! I’ve always been interested in studying abroad and this two-week program at the end of my freshman year is the perfect introduction! The opportunity to get to go to real companies and a local university is amazing! Plus 3 also offers 3 credits to earn towards my degree, which will not only keep me on track, but will put me ahead.
I have always had an interest in going to Germany, so when I was choosing where I wanted to travel, Germany was on the top of my list! The country is so pretty with all the old buildings, castles and history that exists there. I am also so excited to see how being in a different country that’s main language is German will be. I am very interested in the automobile industry and while in Germany I will be focusing on that industry and supply chain management. This trip will allow me to grow as a person and teach me many new things: how to be more independent, how to navigate through difficulties and it will improve my interaction/people skills. Before I graduate from Pitt, I hope to study abroad for a whole semester either my sophomore or junior year spring semester! I am so thrilled to have this opportunity and I’ll see ya in Germany!
