A Comprehensive Review of United Airlines Versus Pamela’s Diner.

When beginning the adventure to Cyprus, it is important to get the most out of the best part of the day, meals. While traveling, full nutritious meals are required so one can make maximize their traveling adventures. Throughout our first day of travel, we had two different classifications of meals, land-based food and air-based food. Our land food pertained to Pamela’s Diner and our air food consisted of United Airlines’ best entrees. This is a comprehensive review of both foods.

At Pamela’s diner, the fine gentlemen traveling to Cyprus indulged in land-based food- omelets, eggs, and pancakes. After a brief discussion with the gentlemen, the best way to rank the foods was based on the Eatery Scale. The Eatery Scale is a classification where 1 is the worst eatery food, and 10 is the best quality food the eatery has to offer. Personally, I had the Tex-Mex Omelet. A delicately cooked egg filled with chorizo, and salsa and topped with sour cream and guacamole. This is a beautiful example of a culture-rich dish tasting incredible. This is a true 9.8/10, the only issue was the toast was mildly soggy when served. This ranks extremely high on the eatery scale, which is expected as Pamela’s Diner offers incredible service.

While traveling with United Airlines, two meals were offered with the service from Dulles International Airport to Frankfurt International Airport. On this flight, we were served an air-based dinner that consisted of a pasta meal or a chicken meal. I choose the chicken meal, which consisted of a stir-fried chicken, a fresh salad, bread, and a milk cookie. The chicken was pretty close to real chicken and savory, deserving a well-earned 7.6/10. The salad was tart but flavorful, earning an 8.6/10. The bread was cold, hard, and very “crummy”. This got a 2.6/10 for being extremely disappointing. Finally, the cookie was the highlight of the meal being sugary and fantastic, with a 9.3/10. The second meal was breakfast, where a Chibani Greek yogurt was served with biscotti and coffee. Overall, this meal was an 8.5/10 as it was basic but a good way to start our day. Overall, United Airlines deserves 8.2/10 for their food.

So why is United Airlines so far behind Pittsburgh’s best diner? The answer lies directly within Industrial Engineering. United Airlines needs a mass quantity of food for their large flight, serving a surplus of customers. In the air they want to maximize speed, thus minimizing quality. This creates the difference between United Airlines and Pamila’s Diner. At Pamela’s, their customers are a lot smaller in size and spread out, having more time and thus being able to maximize quality. This results in a 9.8/10 overall rating. Overall, with no surprise Pamela’s Diner prevails with their delicious omelet.
