We finally arrived in Amsterdam today! After a long day of traveling (and very little sleep), we were finally able to stretch our legs and begin our Dutch adventures. We were immediately greeted at the Generator and proceeded to complete our orientation there before taking a walk around the park and getting lunch at a very good poke bowl place. Afterwards, we finally checked into our rooms and indeed they are SMALL (yet extremely comforting). We all took naps to combat our jet lag and then had a wonderful steak dinner.
So far, I am extremely excited to begin exploring the city on my own and as a group during our specific activities. I noticed how the entire city of Amsterdam is basically connected by bike lanes and a lot of people spent time outdoors. There were a lot of parks/places to walk around and blacktops where children were playing football. On first impression, the Dutch seem like they really enjoy spending time outdoors doing various activities which I love. I also love how there is easy access to public transportation compared to the U.S., where there is a heavy dependence on cars to travel from place to place.
Our plan tonight is to go downtown and walk around in a giant group with the free time we have, learning more about the city, culture, and night life. I cannot wait to see what the next two weeks have to offer!
