Straight Shot to Cyprus

The trip has begun!! Everyone on the trip has been starting to really get to know each other.

We have three upcoming flights to get to Cyprus everyone has been very excited to start the trip. One of the aspects that I have noted so far is how complex the airport system is. Between making sure flight times line up from airport to airport. How people are filtered through check-in, security, to boarding to ensure efficiency that way people are not late for upcoming flights. This must require a strong team of industrial engineers for each airport. This complex system explains why it is so important for planes to leave on time and for people to arrive for flights on time. If there are any delays the airplane, pilot, and crew would not only be late for the current flight but, also be late for the assignments after the current flight they are on.

As we are getting closer to arriving in Cyprus, I have been gaining an appreciation for the Greek language. It was very helpful when I was learning about the Greek alphabet and how physics adapted many of the Greek letters. And after studying physics for a year this made it easier for me to correlate the letters to how they sound. Some of the words I picked up on were Nei (yes), Ohi (no), and Ya Sou (Hello). Although I only know a few I would hope to expand on it while we are staying in Cyprus.

So far in our travels, everything is going very well and luckily haven’t had any delays or cancelations. Another interesting aspect of the flight was they provides food from the flight from Washington to Germany. This adds to the complex system that contributes to air travel.
