We left yesterday???

Finally, we’re getting here! Took long enough to get here but after taking a quick nap and finishing some movies I started on the flight before that, we had made it! It was so exciting to finally make it and land on the ground in Cyprus after an exhausting travel day. It was so surreal to make it after it had taken long enough and to know that we didn’t have to do this again for another two weeks.

After a seamless transition of getting our bags and going through customs, we met up with Christina who would be our program coordinator for the first couple of days. She let us use the. restrooms and chill a second before we went to the bus to put all our stuff on it and finally head to the hotel! We loaded up on the bus after hearing about how “atrocious” the weather was in Cyprus today when us coming in from Pittsburgh with rain and gloom the majority of the time the 70-degree partly cloudy day was just what we were looking for. We were introduced to our driver and received our welcome bag which included all of the resources we needed to succeed here on our trip. Then we proceeded to take the 40-minute bus ride over to our hotel. It was interesting to see the entire country as we basically drove across the entire one.

As a business student, I enjoyed seeing the different billboards of all of the different companies and industries in Cyprus that differed from the United States. There were many companies that reflected similar advertising techniques as the United States, for example, Kit Kat, Coca-Cola, and Starbucks. As we entered off of the main road, we entered the town to see so many different Greek-named stores and I tried to decipher what each store was based on what I could see. Then I saw my first Cyprian kitty! It was adorable and I saw many more throughout the night. We finally made it to the hotel but had to awkwardly hold up traffic to get our bags out. We entered the hotel and got a little intro before heading up into our beautiful rooms. We took speedy showers before we met for dinner and walked over to the marina where we walked around before finally deciding where to go to dinner. I got a veggie wrap and it was so yummy! The local cats kept coming over to us and we enjoyed watching the local culture and just watching the social scene. Upon heading back to the hotel we went to check out our hotel’s rooftop pool to hang out and conclude our night.

I am definitely so excited for tomorrow (and to actually get good sleep) and truly get this trip started.
