After a long flight that I had difficulty sleeping, I finally landed in Dublin. When we arrived, we were driven to a cliff where we walked the trails with an amazing view of the water and a far outlook of Ireland. The view was a magnificent sight along with the fresh air and breeze coming from the water made the early morning much more tolerable. After walking on the trail, we went to a fishing village and got breakfast. I had no idea how breakfast would be as this would be my first time trying food in Ireland. However, the omelette turned out to be pretty good.
During my second day in Dublin, we went on a historical walking tour and a bus tour. I had absolutely no idea how much history Ireland had connected with the rest of Europe. It was really interesting to hear how prevalent each historical landscape was significant into building Irish history and culture and how much of a staple and important presence it is around Ireland. When I first heard that Dublin was a walkable city, I found that hard to believe. But after being here for only two days, I am able to tell how easy it is to navigate from one place to another. Especially, with how close everything is from each other from pubs, grocery stores, coffee shops, clothing stores, restaurants, etc.
After hearing about the history of Ireland the whole day, it is important to know about the history and culture of the place you do business at because you are able to learn about their roots and how they got to where they are now. Oftentimes, history makes up a company’s culture as this also relates to Ireland’s history as its historical scene is apart of their culture. The importance of history and culture in a workplace helps with maintaining and building relationships and as a consultant that is one of the most important things. An important thing that is emphasized throughout college and classes is the importance and benefits of networking. By understanding history and culture of someone or someplace you do business with, you are building a relationship and therefore growing your overall network.
