Despite the long day of travel, the sight of the fishing village and our first hike/walk revitalized me. Sitting in two cramped plane seats and breathing in stale, artificial air had left me feeling drained, but the first breathe of Ireland’s fresh air and taking in the stunning scenery of clear waters and flowery mountains was breath taking.

Before my trip to Ireland, I must admit that I had very little knowledge about the country’s culture and customs. However, after participating in various walking and bus tours, hiking excursions, and experiencing the vibrant nightlife, I gained a deeper understanding and appreciation for the Irish way of life. Exploring the bustling streets of Dublin and chatting with locals helped me gain insight into the Irish people’s friendly and welcoming nature. From the lively pubs to the charming music, I was able to witness firsthand the country’s rich history and traditions.

In business its important to understand the historical and cultural context of Ireland because it provides insights into the local business landscape, potential challenges or cultural sensitivities, economic conditions and help to build strong relationships with clients and partners.

During our tour today, our guide Dana gave us valuable insights into the current events and issues affecting the area. He explained that housing in the city is very expensive, making it unaffordable for many people. As we looked out at the cityscape, we noticed a mix of suburbs and city construction and expansion. Dana emphasized the importance of building relationships in business, and how understanding the locals and their struggles can make us more relatable. By learning more about the challenges facing the community, we can tailor our approach to be more sensitive and effective.
