Γεια σας!

For our first official day in Cyprus we started our day with an amazing breakfast at our local cafe across the street. I ate an amazing array of yogurt, banana, oats, eggs, fresh orange juice, and some coffee. This started my day off to an an amazing start.

Soon after, we walked to the bus stop and headed to The University of Nicosia to start our orientation. We headed to our first class which was a history walk through of the history of Cyprus. The lecture was a great experience as we got to hear about all of the prior rulers and groups that ruled and occupied the country. The class also gave me some insight into the split into the countries divide between the north and south sides of the country. After our class concluded we got to eat in the UNIC dinning hall. I had some grilled chicken with some potatoes and was BY FAR the best dinning hall food I have ever had.

Our next lecture was a greek crash course into the language. We learned a multitude of words from this class, including how to say hello, how to ask for the price, how to ask how someone is, and so on. This was a great way to interact and trust embrace Cypriot culture.

When our day at UNIC had concluded we took a quick group picture, talked to a few students who were abroad from the states, then headed back. When we arrived back to our hotel, we got prepared for our group dinner on the marina. We all got platters (pictured) with chicken, pork, some sausage, and even pita bread. This was a great time with our great group.

When dinner concluded, some members of the group attempted the human table. This was such a fun photo opportunity. We also took some disposable pictures to keep our memories for when our trip concludes.
