Czech It! (“Amazing Race” victory)

Today we started the day with a history lecture at one of the Charles University buildings. It was a very interesting lecture and I learned a lot of cool things about the history of the Czech Republic/Czechoslovakia. It covered the time after the first world war (when the country was first established), WWII, and through the end of the 1980s when they were liberated from communism. Then, we went on a Scavenger Hunt across the section of the city that we were in, and it was compared to The Amazing Race. My team (Cara, Claire, Alli, and myself) completed the 6 clues (and found the 6 locations) and made it to the meet-up location in 30 minutes! That was the fastest time, and we got all of the clues correct, so we won a drawstring bag and a notebook! In the afternoon, we went on our first company visit to TechTest. It was cool to hear about the company/product that they founded/designed.

I would say that my “fish out of water” experience for this trip has been when the natives speak to each other in Czech and I don’t understand what they are saying, or when I talk to them in English and the point one of us is trying to make gets confused in the language gap.
