Day 2: Larnaca to Limassol

We finally landed in Cyprus!! Once we exited the airport, we were greeted by warm weather and some sunshine. Luckily, according to Christina, we just missed the storm. Next, we were off to Limassol via bus. Although I was very tired, I wanted to take in my first views of Cyprus.

The first thing I noticed on the bus ride was the landscape. I’m not exactly sure what I imagined Cyprus to look like, but this definitely wasn’t it. Out the window, I saw many hills covered in dark green vegetation with dead, yellow patches in between. Scattered throughout the hills were small clusters of houses, mostly with contrasting terracotta roofs. When I looked to the other side of the bus, I was able to see the blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea.

Once we entered Limassol, the view changed to different buildings, including shops, hotels, and restaurants, all tightly packed together. After settling into our hotel room, Brenna and I decided to explore the roof. Aside from the gorgeous rooftop pool, we had a view of all of Limassol. As we were taking in the view, the thing that struck me the most was the varying architecture. There were modern buildings tucked between old brick stores and skyscrapers being built right next to old churches. I think the differing architecture was a visual representation of the many influences Cyprus has had over its many years.

Next, we headed down to the marina for dinner. While deciding where we wanted to eat, we walked around and were able to take in the view of the many boats on the water. I also spotted my first Cypriot cat! For dinner, I had a salad bowl which tasted so fresh! I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.
