Today in Germany was our first company visit visiting Hoerbiger. It was an incredible experience, and I learned a lot! We visited two separate factories which made vastly different products. The one factory made valves for things like ventilators and gas flow and motion control machines. The tour was very interesting as well saw the ins and outs of the production and got to ask a lot of questions. We saw the room where they assemble everything and seeing their robust organization system was great!
On the second factory tour we toured a much bigger factory making parts for cars clutch boxes and synchronization for electric vehicle engines. They are mostly making the parts for clutch boxes but with the shift away from manual cars and the industry focus on electric cars they are planning to switch gears. This was even more entertaining as it’s something I know more about as I’m interested in cars so learning about their construction all the way down to the little parts was cool! The factory was much bigger and seeing all the machines at work was very satisfying and fun to look at!
We ended our day with a trip to Oberammergau. We took a gondola to the top of a mountain in the alps and saw one of the most beautiful views I’ve even seen in my life. Everyone was absolutely blown away by the views on the mountains of both sides and we took numerous pictures like the one attached below. Finally, we ate dinner in Oberammergau and did some shopping which was amazing to explore a smaller German town with lots of history.
