After some much needed rest from our arrival in Augsburg we woke up on day 2 ready to see what Augsburg has to offer! We started out the morning with some hotel breakfast. They pretty much have the same things that we would find at a continental breakfast. Shortly after that the group made their way to The University of Augsburg. This campus was around 5 tram stops from where we were, but their campus was more similar to Penn States; as in it was more of an actual campus than one integrated with the city. We went straight inside one of the buildings into a classroom where the German students were. We were told we had around an hour to make a presentation about a company each group was going to visit later on in the week and then present it to the group. The presentation was not that hard, the only issue I had was typing because German keyboards have their “Z” and “Y” keys switched so I kept misspelling words. Every group was sort of rushing through the verbal presentation piece just because we were so eager to get food from the Universities dining hall.

Everyone in Germany is always dresses very nice no matter what they are doing or where they are going, so walking through the campus everyone looked so neat and put together. At Pitt students wear PJ’s to class, so it was definitely nice to see students dress up. When we got to the dining hall they had different stations of different types of food, like pizza, pasta, Asia, and German. I loaded up on food because I was starving and I did not have one bad thing. It was for sure a step up from Pitts food. Soon after that we split off into two teams to do an Augsburg city scavenger hunt.

Our first task on the scavenger hunt was to find the stadium where the Augsburg soccer/football team plays. It took so so so long to get there, just to find out the other team did not even have that as one of theirs. From the stadium we went back into the city and saw gorgeous fountains, huge cathedrals and some very unique buildings. When we finally were done we went to the final location and we were the first team there so technically we won (no prize was really given). After all the running around in the city, again, we finally got to be rewarded with dinner. We went to an Italian restaurant and the majority of us got pizza. It is very similar to what you would get at a place like Papa Johns, but this was very thin and they do not put much cheese on it. Also here, salami is pepperoni and pepperoni is green peppers. The salami is very big too, it is not small like we have at home.
As it got later some of the group went to go explore on our own and eventually made our way back to our hotel. The next morning was going to be an early wake up call so we decided to go to bed and be refreshed for day 3!
Tschüss!
