Hey everyone! We made it to day four of the trip. To start the day off our bus didn’t come so we had to ride in separate taxi’s to get to the private hospital that we went to on Monday called Sanatorio Arcos. When we finally arrived at Sanatorio Arcos we then heard a lecture from Dra. Josefina Medrano. Josefina Medrano is the Ministry of Health Province of Salta. She addressed her hardships she had to deal with since she was elected just two months before COVID-19. The Province Salta has many different landscapes so it was very difficult to get the supplies needed for the hospitals and they also didn’t have very much technology. She also sorta mentioned federal decision making has an effect on health care and its impact. After we heard the lecture from Dra. Josefina Medrano we went to a public hospital. The public hospital was called Hospital Fernandez. We had a lecture and a tour of the hospital from the hospital director named Dr. Ignacio Previgliano. It was very interesting to see what he does from his day to day as the director of a public hospital in Argentina. He also explained what he had to do during COVID- 19 times. After his lecture he gave us a tour of the public hospital and in Argentina health care is free unless you of course pay for the private hospital. While walking through the tour of the hospital we went into the ICU unit and it was very upsetting but also it is real life. After the tour we went to IES and had salad and potatoes which was really good. We walked back to the hotel to change and got ready for our walking tour of the northern part of Buenos Aires. It was beautiful we saw so many amazing sights and we visited the most visited cemetery in the world. The cemetery has mausoleums and no one is buried in the ground. It was definitely something to see. I can’t wait for more learning and experiences tomorrow!!
