Day 4- GROB

Today was our visit to GROB which was incredible and very enlightening! We started off with a presentation about the company and learned some very exciting things. We learned about the company and the products they make for companies like Tesla and Rivian. I was shocked to learn this as these are companies I’m very interested in and seeing how their parts are made is awesome. We also learned that they make parts for all Volkswagens which I was very intrigued by as I drive a Volkswagen!
Next, we began our factory tour. We toured most of the GROB plant and learned about how they make their machines. What was incredibly unique is instead of relying on other machines to build their parts for their machines, they created the machines themselves to create these parts for the machines they sell on their own. This is so they can have everything in the house and our tour guide said that 80% of parts in the machines they sell are made by GROB machines. This was crazy to everyone as were super impressed with their ability to keep everything in house and this is extremely useful in the business world.
Comparing Hoerbiger and GROB when it comes to success with E- Mobility is easy in my eyes. I think GROB is in a spot that is leagues above Hoerbiger as they are currently producing things for electric cars and told us their machines can do anything and can be tweaked so they can easily switch gears. Hoerbiger on the other hand is stuck with old technology making things that aren’t as needed anymore putting them in bad spot. I think they are still in a spot to be successful but will take more time and effort for them.
I finished my day shopping and eating in Augsburg. We tried German Burger King which was and underwhelming experience. However, we did find an ice cream spot that was incredible for a very affordable price. I attached the picture of the mint chocolate chip ice cream I got. Today was a more laid-back day but was also exciting to explore and learn more about an incredible company.
