Today we visited the GEC (Guiness Enterprise Centre). The main objective of the company is to empower entrepreneurs to start and scale. One of my biggest takeaways came from their networking opportunities. I was very impressed how the GEC organizes regular events, workshops, and networking sessions to connect entrepreneurs and startups with investors, customers, and industry experts. I loved hearing stories about how small connections of investors lead to company growth and the creation of jobs.
An entrepreneurial mindset includes the possession of a set of skills and attitudes that are useful not only for starting and running a business but also for a wide range of endeavors. I believe I have this mindset because I am very resilient. For example, after not being accepted for an internship, I reevaluate and try new steps to approach my goal. I did this while applying to the Pittsburgh Penguins internship and evidently beat out the majority to recieve the internship. In addition to resilience I believe I possess the ability to take risks. I enjoy challenging myself and trying to enter new levels of knowledge and innovation. For example, in school, I take risks in academic level classes and not only gain valuable knowledge but experience in hardship.
