Overall, the college life between Prague’s Universities and Pitt seems to be pretty similar. They have dorms, semesters, exams and university social events much like we do at Pitt. One physical difference between the University here in Prague and at Pitt is that here the University is spread out over the entire city while at Pitt everything is concentrated together. I believe the students here in Prague are expected to take the wonderful public transport system in-between buildings. A financial difference is that the University students in Czechia go to school funded entirely by taxes was as at Pitt we get some tax money to get the price down if we live in state. Also, exams are allegedly a formal event here in Prague. Students are expected to dress up in business casual while at Pitt I regularly show up to exams in basketball shorts and a T-shirt. I kind of like the business casual though because at home I am starting to feel like a child when wearing the casual stuff that we do. I have been wearing the same general outfit sense I was a toddler, so I support the Czechs fully in requiring the students to dress up for things.
