Gab’s Global Glow-up

Since being in Ireland, I’ve observed many modern and historical things such as architecture, food, sports and politics. Earlier in the trip, I remember seeing the old wall of the city and how it is a very historical object and only small parts of it are still there today. In contrast, right next to the wall is a modern day bank with most likely million dollar apartments on top of it. This is also the case when walking down the street, you could see an old historical church with beautiful Georgian architecture right next to a McDonalds. In terms of food, I have seen many traditional Irish breakfasts on the menu that have been eaten by the Irish for many years. Yet, I have seen modern food trends like avocado toast which has only become a meal within the last few years. With sports, Ireland has two main sports that have been played for hundreds of years being Gaelic Football and Hurley. However when we toured Croke Stadium our tour guide said that recently other foreign sports like soccer have been playing there which shows how the future of sports in Ireland could be changing. Lastly, in terms of politics about a hundred years ago Ireland was a colony of England, yet today the Republic of Ireland is its own country.

Today we visited Google headquarters in Dublin! The buildings were incredible with many fun things and cool decorations such as pool tables and different themed rooms. After some consideration, I do not think I would like to work at Google. I am not extremely interested in sales and that is the majority of what they do in that Google office. However, I would love to work in an environment like the google office as they are very positive to each other and there are many benefits that come with working there.
