Today we visited Trinity College to talk to a DocuSign employee. One similarity I see between DocuSign and Google is that they have a common goal of revenue and finding new innovative ways to generate this. The speaker today stressed that the company is very heavily influenced by trying to match pandemic numbers and percent earnings. Google also tries to generate revenue and encourages employees to seek new revenue paths and clients.
One difference was the ability DocuSign had to market itself. At Google they use immense amounts of marketing and try to generate through multi-national business. DocuSign’s product can travel by word of mouth and relationships in business. This gives DocuSign the ease of multi-national scope.
I took one big lesson from the speaker’s professional path. Do what you want to do. He stressed the importance of travel and completing goals YOU want to complete. He traveled to El Salvador and described that he wouldnt have it any other way. In additon, he stressed the importance of finding the right energy/fit in the jobforce. If the energy of a company does not encourage you or make you comfortable he explained you need to “move on”. Overall, I enjoyed hearing about the path the speaker took to his current occupation.
