It was my group’s turn for our site visit today. We were originally assigned Core, an advertising agency within Dublin as our company, but unfortunately they were not able to accommodate last minute. We then switched to Docusign, but were told the day before our meeting that we would not be able to visit their office because of a maintenance/construction problem in the building. Nonetheless, through some level of adversity, our group prepared a plan with comprehensive questions, and were ready to go when the time came. We were met in a classroom at Trinity College by a representative from Docusign who turned out to be a very interesting man. He had a ton of experience in his field and had plenty of wisdom to impart upon us as young students who will be looking for our first full-time jobs soon enough. In addition to his personal story, he spoke on the condition of different markets for Docusign, marketing strategies for their products, and important metrics for companies to keep their eyes on. While we were not able to see where the Docusign employees worked in Dublin, we were told that the culture is one of creativity, cooperation, and ingenuity. This sounded similar to what we saw when we visited the Google offices a few days ago. One of the most important things I will remember from this talk is the speaker’s advice on choosing a career path. He emphasized focusing on something that excites you and stressed following intuition when figuring out a strategy for moving forward. I am glad we got a chance to chat and hope to cross paths again in the future.
