Czech Your Attitude

Today was a very fun day filled with one unique experience after another. We began the day with a bus ride to the Ledvice Power Plant. They gave us a very nice tour of the facility. Then, we went to the top of one of the towers and got an amazing view of the surrounding areas. They had lunch for us and it was so tasty. The Caprese salad was so fresh. Next, we went to an open pit mine where they mine brown coal to be used by the power plant. (Nerd Alert!) I was so excited because their plant had a cooling tower. It was the first international one that I have seen. The bus ride there and back passed more of the yellow flower fields that I like, and I think I heard someone say it was granola?? Later, we all went as a group to a Black Light theater show. It was different from anything I had previously experienced. The actors didn’t use much dialog, and they had props with black light paint on them. Other actors dressed entirely in black moved the props around the stage, but they blended in with the background to give the illusion of the props moving on their own.

I think that the biggest misconception I had about the Czech Republic before coming here was that it would be like all of the other major, tourist-y cities that I was used to. I figured it would be similar to New York City, or Paris, where there are always people around, no mater the time of day or night. That is not the case with Prague. There are definitely places (like the Charles Bridge, Old Town Square, etc.) where you can almost always find tourists, but if you take one or two turns into the lesser “public” parts of town the city is quiet and there is almost no one but the locals around. It was cool to experience even some of the main tourist spots later in the evening when it was just us there.
