Docusign at Trinity!

Today was another fun day. It consisted of my group’s site visit at Docusign. Although we were not able to see the offices of the company, we got to learn a lot about Docusign and the culture of the workplace at Trinity College. Looking at the site visits from this past week, I have noticed a few differences and similarities between the companies.

To begin by looking at the cultures between Google and Docusign, I noticed a few differences. The culture at Google seemed to focus more on collaboration and having an innovative mindset for the company. It seemed as though Google hired people to fit the company. This is different at Docusign. Docusign hired the people to fit with the other employees. Docusign seemed to focus more on the agreeableness of individuals and their ability to be easy to work. While both companies still hired smart, and suitable individuals for the positions, each company seemed to hire employees based on different ideologies.

I also found a difference in Google and Docusign’s approach to multinational business. Google is such a large company that they have offices in many different countries and have set up bases there. Much of what they do is the same in each country. While this is true, Docusign has a different approach. Docusign has different approaches to each country that they are in. This is because although they are well-established, they are not close to the size that Google is. As mentioned during the presentation, Docusign is more established in the United States, which is why there are multiple approaches to different countries.

Our speaker had a long path to reach the position that he is in now. He has gone through many different positions that allowed him to learn and grow into this position. I found it very surprising that for such a successful individual, he learned in the Irish language for most of his education, and liked his message of following what you enjoy. If you do not enjoy what you do, the job becomes much harder. Overall, I learned a lot about Docusign and gained some valuable advice from the site visit today.
