What Even Is Docusign

Today we had a speaker come in from Docusign to talk about the company stats, culture, and shared some advice and how he ended up working with the accounting and finance team at Docusign. My explanation for the title is because I was shocked to find out very little people in Europe know what Docusign is. I personally have used Docusign for almost every job and internship I have had, so it was nice to learn about a company that makes a consistent appearance in my life.

Before the visit though, we went back to the Docklands to meet Dr. Kelly and he finished talking about education and the history of Ireland. OKAY FULL HONESTY: I didn’t hear much of what he said because there were so many pigeons flying around and walking around and I am horrified of birds so I kept having to relocate. I was for real tested today with exposure therapy. What I got from his lecture was a lot of metaphors about people asking for cigarettes and lighters and how making a good lasagna will get you anywhere from an A+ to a B in school. Maybe I should reach out and have him explain what he was talking about sometime in the coming days.

Regarding the visit, I enjoyed having the Google and Docusign visit almost back to back because it was easier to compare the two large companies. From my perspective, it seemed Docusign was more ‘old-fashioned’ when it comes to culture and work. When Docusign was asked about the work culture, it seemed that they get along but don’t give the extensive amenities Google gives. As per my other post, I love the work focused environment so maybe I’ll hit up Docusign and try and land a job there, who knows! However, Docusign mentioned that they have younger leadership that are transforming the culture of the company so I have a feeling that maybe the Docusign office will have a few espresso bars and playgrounds in their future.

Google and Docusign I feel both do a great job as far as making sure the work environment is cohesive, Docusign focuses on hiring people who are hard working and with personalities that will mesh well, assuming the candidate has the necessary technical skills. Google does that too, and I think a lot of their culture depends on tangible things like all the on-site facilities.

Our speaker today talked about his professional journey and he mentioned he took two years off to volunteer in El Salvador! That is so amazing and I really enjoyed hearing about that as well as how he worked for a ‘dot.com.’ He then offered advice for us to take 6 to 12 months to just take a break and figure out what we want to do. I think that was nice advice, but with how fast paced and competitive things are today, I do not want to take that time off. If anything, I would work part time somewhere and allow for more time in my days for free thinking and exploring interests. I just don’t think I am the type of person who can take two years off of work. But, I admire anyone who feels passionate enough for something to dedicate such a large chunk of time to it, I am your biggest fan!

Anyway, after the visit we went shopping and to be honest the stores here are kind of ‘meh.’ I mean of course I still bought some cute things, but I was shocked that I thought the shops at Ross Park Mall were superior.

Super excited for tomorrow and the wild rover tour!!

See ya!
