I have been sure to get a few Czech dishes in so far this trip. The one that I have been going back to consists of some cut of meat with gravy and bread dumplings. The meat will very but always tasty and have the dumplings to absorb the gravy is perfect. I think the closest thing i can compare the dumplings to would be like a loaf of stuffing. They do not have as much seasoning, but seems like a similar base idea to me. I had pork schnitzel for lunch one day and think that might have been my favorite meal. They frequently serve that with a side of potato salad. At this restaurant, there was mashed potatoes with it thankfully for me. I have noticed that the portions here are typically smaller and often smaller plates are even used.
Yesterday was our biggest meal by far. CEZ was kind enough to cater lunch and there was more than plenty of food for our small group. There were some appetizer style dishes and then two main course options. The first was curry and rice. I opted for the beef cheeks and mashed potatoes. Portions were large and I had pretty much filled up after my first serving. However, you can’t pass up seconds in an unlimited free food situation. I went back to grab more mashed potatoes and sure enough the server piled on two more scoops of beef cheeks as well. I did my best to finish but the beef cheeks won that battle.
