Today was a great day. We met in the lobby very close to 10am which gave me plenty of time to sleep, which was amazing. I was excited because we got to take the train into Munich which was a cool experience. One thing I noticed is that the train stations look like shopping malls with many clean and brightly lit stores, and the trains are very clean. Much cleaner than at home.

After arriving in Munich, we started off with a city tour which taught us some very interesting history regarding the city. The coolest thing I saw today was when the tour went through a park that had a river though it and a huge wave was created. On this wave about 10 people lined up with surfboards taking turns trying to ride the wave as long as possible. I also enjoyed getting to see the glockenspiel on Munich’s town hall which had intricate moving figures up high on the building. This tour was very helpful in understanding the layout of the city center for when we were by ourselves the rest of the day.

After the tour was done, we had about 5 hours of free time. This was so much fun. We were starving so we headed off to a street market where you guessed it… I got currywurst and fries again. This was my favorite currywurst so far on the trip and ironically the least expensive. After eating we headed up to the top of a church’s clock tower over 15 stories tall. There was no elevator, so stairs it was. I soon found out it wasn’t the best idea to hike up 15 flights right after eating. Once we got to the top, the view of the city was absolutely amazing. We were able to see everything and get some amazing photos.

After leaving the church I walked around, buying some souvenirs and some amazing gelato (twice). After walking around some more it was already time to meet back up with the group for dinner. The day really flew by so quickly because I was having so much fun.
We met up with the group and went to a delicious burger place for dinner. I got a burger with goat cheese, bacon, and fig jam. It was amazing and the combination of flavors very much worked. I’m now writing this on the train ride back, exhausted with over 25,000 steps taken. I’m excited to get back to the hotel and relax and see what great things we get to do during the rest of this trip!
