Hi everyone! Day seven has been the most unwinding so far. Finally a full day free of lectures where we just enjoyed some time outdoors. We visited a town called Luján, which is located to the northwest of Buenos Aires. We were able to see it’s large Basílica, which was created in memory of Argentina’s patron saint, the Virgin of Luján. We entered the Basílica and simply stood there in awe of its beauty. The building featured elaborated stain glass windows, statues of important religious figures, and many different paintings. We got the chance to witness a mass that was taking on inside as well. I bought some rosaries for my mother and grandma in one of the stores outside the Basílica before I left. Despite the fact that tomorrow is Mother’s Day and I won’t be able to see them, I wanted to get them something when I got back. They have both supported me through every stage of my life, helping me grow and learn. They have shown me the meaning of unconditional love and I will always be grateful for that. Without them, I genuinely don’t know where I would be. Feliz Día de las Madres! Las amo y las veo pronto!
After the Basílica, we visited a ranch called Rodizio Estancia. The ranch had so many fun activities for us to do. They even greeted us with some really good “empanadas”. We rode around bikes and played volleyball and spike ball. It was really nice to just be outside enjoying ourselves. The group then gathered for lunch. They offered us a variety of meats, all of which were really good. After that, we went to a farm where we saw numerous animals, including horses, cows, pigs, and goats. Before we left, my friends and I just sat in the lawn chairs and chatted about how this trip had gone so far and what we expected for the next days. Overall, it was a great experience.
