Day 7 in Argentina! Today was a very calm day to relax and rewind in nature. We started off by busing to the town of Luján outside of Buenos Aires to visit the famous Basilica. This is a massive Roman Catholic Church with a very cool backstory that is way too intricate for me to explain on here. We were only there for a little bit because we had to get on the road to go to the highlight of our day, Rodizio Estancia. This is a ranch that I considered a “glamping” version of a ranch with lots of outdoor activities, good food, and some farm animals. First thing first, I don’t think I’ll be able to eat meat for a couple weeks. They fed us soooo much meat I was in a coma. We started off with a snack that I thought was our lunch, should have saved my appetite cuz boy was I wrong. The appetizer was beef empanadas, cheese, and cold cuts. Then we went inside to the dining room and the real meal stated. They had a salad bar and bread on the table for us. Then the servers came around with cuts of meat every so often and asked us each if we would like to try what they had. I can’t remember everything there was but we had chorizo, blood sausage (worst looking thing I’ve ever seen), brisket, beef intestines, carne, about 3 more cuts of beef, and at least 2 cuts of pork. Some of it was really good and others I didn’t really like. They then had a dessert bar filled with tiramisu cake, little parfait cakes, 2 types of flan, and fresh fruit with whipped cream and dulce de leche. And then before we left they gave us a final snack of warm pastries. Some were flaky dough filled with apples or strawberry and there was fried dough and dulce de leche cake bites. I waddled off the ranch I was so full.
On top of eating tons of amazing food we did a lot of fun activities. We went on a little bike ride around the property, played big sized Jenga, tried archery, pet some cute farm animals, went on a short tractor ride, lounged in chairs outside, and met a very friendly cat. It was so nice to have a day to decompress and laugh with my friends in a place I never thought I would be. I got to know people better and have a little freedom from all the talks, business casual, and taking notes. Today was very needed and I appreciate Grant and Lynnea for making time in the schedule for us to be kids and just relax.
In addition to talking about my day here, I am also supposed to give a shoutout to a woman in my life for tomorrow’s special day, Mother’s Day. So happy early Mother’s Day to my Mom! I’v only been gone for like a week and I definitely miss her. I was only home from school for a week before I had to leave again so I can’t wait to spend some quality time with her this summer. Thank you for always checking on me while I was in school, always wanting to call me, congratulating me on my academics, and going shopping for lots of business casual with me. I’ll make sure to bring home some unique gifts for Mother’s Day and also for your upcoming birthday. I love you and I’ll see you soon!
