Today we started our cultural visits with a stop at Kolossi Castle right outside of Limassol. Kolossi castle was home to the St. John knights and was used as a stronghold/military base. The castle served largely in the crusader period. The castle has a beautiful mosaic of Jesus located in the bottom that shows proof to this date.

Our next stop was to the city of Kourion. We were guided and showed the intricacies of the town before we arrived to the amphitheater. The theater was beautiful. The acoustics were amazing and probably provided an amazing experience for greeks in the past. We were informed that the theater hosted 3000 people once, but as the Egyptians were building the Swiss canal, they stripped stone from Cyprus, specifically from the amphitheater minimizing the theater size to approximately 1000 seats.

Soon after our tour and walk around of Kourion, we proceeded to head to our group lunch at a restaurant on the water. I ordered a pasta that was delicious and gave me more energy for the day going forward. With some time left after eating, before we departed, we got some group pics of all the guys doing the Zyzz pose and even got Dr. Streiner to do it as well, with the amazing scenery at hand.
The last stop was to the castle of Limassol. This site was used once by the Byzantine empire before being refortified later on. The castle was mainly used as a defensive stronghold to defend from potential attacks on the island, but was later taken by the Ottomans who changed the castle. The castle was also a prison for awhile before becoming the Cyprus Medieval Museum.
To conclude, today was full of historic landmarks with loads of history. We got to see some beautiful buildings and see some amazing landscapes as well.
