Today was another early day, but it was completely fine because I got a much needed good night of sleep the night before. I wasn’t really sure what to expect of Regensburg before we arrived. I tried to not look at too many pictures to keep it a surprise. We arrived after about a two hour drive and I napped for most of it. Once we arrived, I noticed that there were many other coach busses and that this was most certainly a touristy city. Right when we entered the city, I understood why.

We had to cross a famous stone bridge from the 12th century leading into the city. The city was stunning and there is nothing like it back home. All of the streets are very small and constructed from cobblestone. Many of the buildings were made in the 13th and 14th centuries, making this city extremely old. This city is known for its medieval core, and I could certainly tell. The main difference in Regensburg from any city back home is the style of ancient architecture along with how well it has been preserved. There were many huge buildings and towers that would belong to only one family back in the day. Regensburg was a very wealthy city as the citizens generally dealt luxury goods. Overall, this city was amazing to visit and very interesting to tour and learn about the history.

After this, we made our way back to the bus where we drove to a Parthenon replica constructed in the 19th century. What was supposed to be a 15 minute drive turned into about 30 after our bus driver crashed directly into a sign. We all had a laugh about that. After arriving at the Parthenon, we made our way to the front because it sits on a hill with an amazing view. Not just the building took my breath away, but also the view. I have never seen this type of architecture at home before so it was very interesting to be able to see it here. The inside of the Parthenon was full of busts honoring famous Germans. It was very grand, covered in gold and marble.

After leaving the Parthenon, we headed back to the hotel where I immediately started work on my project with my team members. After that, I headed to McDonald’s to grab a fast dinner. It made me feel like I was right back at home. Now I am about to get a good nights sleep so I am energized for the excitement to come tomorrow.
