Today we went to by far my favorite city which is Regensberg. It was a two-hour bus ride there that I was mostly asleep for. I woke up at the end of the ride, and everywhere that I’d look outside was absolutely beautiful. There were fields everywhere, and gorgeous green forests as well. We arrived in the city and for the first time on the trip it was actually sunny outside with some blue skies. We had to walk over a 12th century stone bride to get into the old city. The bride went over the Danube River.

Walking into the city you could tell that it was a really old city. It had a lot of medieval buildings which were cool to see. We started a guided tour of the city when we got there. The first thing that we saw on the tour was a patrician tower. It was pink and had seven floors. It was hundreds of years old and still standing. The tour guide told us that these were towers built to show wealth and that normally only the first three floors would have usable rooms in it. There were a lot of similar towers that we saw as we walked around the city. Later on, the tour guide told us that Regensburg didn’t get bombed during World War two which was incredible. Compared to Munich and everything was a remake, it was nice to see buildings that were really so old.

We ended the tour at the cathedral. After that we went to lunch at an Italian restaurant. I got some pasta other people got pizzas. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a large pizza in my entire life. The plate that it went on was huge and then the pizza on top of it was over the edge of the plate it was so big. Dr. Feick told us later that one of his Italian friends said that that pizza was the beset he’d ever eaten.

After lunch we got some gelato, and then went into the cathedral. This cathedral is quite old. Since it is so old it is very dark in there. It took a few minutes for my eyes to adjust to the lighting, but once they did, I could see the full beauty of the stained-glass windows. Another cool thing about the church was that there was a hanging organ. You don’t see those too often; it was out in a few years ago so still fairly new. After that we left Regensburg for Walhalla.

Walhalla looks like a Greek temple that was built 200 years ago. It was built to honor leaders and important people in Germanys history. There are statues of all of those people inside the temple. There were statues for Fugger, Copernicus Einstein, Martin Luter, and more. The temple also sat on a hill and a had a great view of the German countryside. There were also some sheep at the bottom of the temple that were so cute. After we visited the temple, we went to Augsburg for the night.
