- Pineapple plantations. Pineapples look and taste awesome. As a worker, if you find a pineapple that grew too early, you can keep it, which is a huge perk because the pineapple here is super delicious. Also, picking pineapples doesn’t seem like much mental labor as they are all lined up ready for you to pick at one time. Being an owner of the pineapple fields is just enough work to be interesting, but not enough to drive you wild. Pineapple also is not seasonal, meaning you have stuff to do all year round. The supply chain isn’t too complex either, you just pick and export. I am not sure if they reuse the plastic coverings around the pineapples, so I cannot hold that against them.
- Banana plantations. Bananas here are also very tasty, and you can make a wide variety of foods with them quite easily that all taste amazing. As a worker you would get to use a machete, which is awesome and a huge plus. But I am sure that using a machete for a long period of time can get quite tiring. The supply chain of a banana is also as equally straightforward as a pineapple’s. Depending on how organic you want your bananas to be, managing the plantation could be complex with all the critters running around, but not too complex. Also, bonus points for being where I saw little dude.
- Last and definitely least, we have coffee plantations. Coffee just does not seem fun at all. Every person working has to put in significant mental effort in order to pull off running a coffee plantation. The pickers have to examine every tiny bean to see if it is good. The owner has it the worst though. They have to manage getting all the pickers in during the season, where each coffee variety goes, what varieties are going to be planted, etc. etc. The supply chain is also way more complex than bananas and pineapples. As the owner, you have to decide what levels of the chain you are taking. To roast or not to roast, that is the question.
