Day 10-Neuschwanstein Castle

We visited the Alps again today. This time we went to the Neuschwanstein Castle. It was a fun experience for me because I have always wanted to go to a castle. Specifically, one on a mountain. We walked up the entire mountain to reach the castle. It was foggy and monsoon was pouring on us. The journey up there was unpleasant, but It was so worth it.

The view from the castle down to the landscape was foggy, but still visible. Inside there was an unfinished alter room that looked so expensive, I don’t think anyone can afford it. From the two million tiles placed on the ground to the one ton chandelier made of gold and jewelry, it almost felt like everything was touched by Midas. The corridors and the chambers were also pretty ornate with most of them having paintings and murals that seemed very medieval.

We also visited the Wieskirche which was around 15 minutes away from the castle. It was essentially another overly decorated church in Germany, but I still thought it was a pretty cool place to visit. The ceiling mural showcased what seemed to be Heaven and with people and figures to represent chapters in the bible which I thought was nice.

For food today, I had the standard hotel breakfast which is great as always. After the castle tour, I had three big donut balls which were so good that my face lit up. We also visited a Houfbrua house which was located on the walk up to the mountain and got a bratwurst with fries which was absolutely delicious. I didn’t even have dinner yet as of making this blog and I can firmly say that my dining experience for today was a 10/10.
